Medical assistant
MPI's medical assistant program prepares students to play a vital role in the daily operations of a healthcare office of all shapes and sizes. Working under the direct supervision of a doctor or licensed healthcare provider, medical assistants are typically needed in medical offices, diagnostic screening facilities, physical rehabilitation practices, nursing homes, colleges and universities, along with outpatient centers.
Medical Secretary
The Medical Secretary diploma program at MPI provides training for individuals looking for a rewarding career as a healthcare administrator. Students of this program will receive the training required to find employment in the emerging health care sector.
Students will learn the practical and relevant skills needed to operate in an administrative role within a medical office. Training will cover such tasks as patient billing, health information management, patient data collection, keyboarding skills, medical transcription, creating and maintaining databases, Microsoft Office®, aseptic techniques, medical office procedures and communication styles.
phlebotomy
Drawing a person's blood may not seem like an important job until you are on the receiving end of a needle! Phlebotomists are trained to draw blood for various lab tests and procedures. Many patients are understandably anxious about having blood drawn, but a good phlebotomist develops the skills necessary to help patients relax and feel they are in competent hands. MPI's certificate seminar has been created to meet the needs of the local medical community and can be a first step in getting your foot in the health care door.
