Phlebotomy

Phlebotomy seminar is a four (4) consecutive Saturday class preparing students for employment positions as a CPT. The program is fast paced and concentrated. For our day program, lectures and demonstrations are taught four Saturdays, 6.75 hours per day for total of 27 contact hours. For our three (3) consecutive week night program, lectures and demonstrations are taught 3 days per week, 3 hours per evening for a total of 27 contact hours. Training must include successfully performing a minimum of 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks on live individuals. Live sticks (blood draws) will be performed in class. These sticks will not be done on “fake” arms, but will be done on fellow students and yourself, in a supervised setting.

In addition to the above, home study and class room preparation are required. Students will learn how to organize and assimilate themselves to become productive and valuable assets as auxiliary personnel in a medical practice.

Each student will be required to perform and pass a hands-on competency test using various venipuncture techniques that they have been taught throughout the seminar. Students will also have to pass a written competency test at the end of the seminar. Upon completions of the course, each student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion in Phlebotomy. Our emphasis is on training and we do not provide job placement, however, as a courtesy to MPI students we do provide a list of job leads.

Students will be eligible to apply for a phlebotomy certification (CPT) through National Healthcareer Association or National Association for Health Professionals.

EKG Technician

EKG Technician seminar is a four (4) consecutive Saturday class preparing students for employment positions as a NRCEKG. The program is fast paced and concentrated. For our day program, lectures and demonstrations are taught four Saturdays, 7.25 hours per day for total of 29 contact hours. For our three (3) consecutive week night program, lectures and demonstrations are taught 3 days per week, 3.22 hours per evening for a total of 29 contact hours.

A crucial element to EKG instruction is the hands-on experience the student receives.  As a professional, you possess a clear understanding of the handling of an EKG machine and maintaining the respect of the patient’s dignity.  As the instructor, you are responsible for the student’s comprehension of this very important aspect in the EKG process.  Performing an accurate EKG often requires that the student adjust clothing so that there is no interference with the EKG leads.  Every effort must be made to respect the student’s personal privacy.   The skills and knowledge provided in this class will create the basis for the student’s future performance.

The following points apply to the hands-on instruction:

·               All hands-on instruction is to be supervised by the instructor

·               All materials necessary to perform a 12 lead EKG will be provided

·               The instructor is responsible for the proper handling of the equipment

·               All students are required to participate in the practical experience portion of the

       EKG course

In addition to the above, home study and class room preparation are required. Students will learn how to organize and assimilate themselves to become productive and valuable assets in a medical practice.

Students will also have to pass a written competency test at the end of the seminar. Upon completions of the course, each student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion in EKG Technician Seminar from MPI, LLC. Our emphasis is on training and we do not provide job placement, however, as a courtesy to MPI students we do provide a list of job leads.
