Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant is a twenty-one consecutive week program preparing students for employment positions in the medical field. The program is fast paced and concentrated. For our day program, lectures and demonstrations are taught four days per week, 7 hours per day for a total of 480 contact hours. For our thirty consecutive week night program, lectures and demonstrations are taught 3 days per week, 3.5 hours per evening and Saturdays 8 hours for a total of 480 contact hours. In addition, the student is required to complete 120 hours in a practicing medical facility where they will actually assist the doctor and staff with patients. This is required in day and night programs. This allows the student to directly apply their clinical skills and principles of medical assisting. Also, it’s a great opportunity to become familiar with the everyday responsibilities they will face once they have secured employment.

Our staff is proud to have an established relationship with over 30 medical facilities in Ellis County as well as surrounding areas. The student will be expected to fulfill certain requirements in order to maximize their learning experience while they are in their externship office. The student’s instructor will assign their extern office.

In addition to the above, home study and class room preparation are required. Students will learn how to organize and assimilate themselves to become productive and valuable assets as auxiliary personnel in a medical practice. General administrative and support skills useful in organizational and business applications common to the medical profession will also be integral in the overall preparation of the student.
